¿¿¿Who has a practice earthquake drill in the middle of a thunderstorm????
This week was good. I feel like nothing exciting happened, besides class and then eating and then teaching a "person" (that person is usually our teacher acting as an interested person). I do have to say, so many spiritual things have happened, and I learned so much about how the spirit works and what it means to actually teach by the spirit. First things first, I love my companion!! We have become like sisters and what I love about the first couple of weeks is how it has taught me to work through the hard times and what I can do when I get a companion that I really don´t get along with. She has become like a sister to me and we are constantly laughing and even when she or one of us are having a hard time we are always there for each other to help the other. Which I love!!! My companion and I were teaching a "person" named Arturo, and we kinda planned a lesson. We talked about what we wanted to teach him about and it was the first lesson we only talked about what we were where going to talk about and didn't actually write down what we were going to say in Spanish. Before we always teach someone we say a prayer that we will feel the spirit and feel like we did our best. When we were talking to Arturo I felt like I needed to say something and was trying to think of how to say it in Spanish and then my companion said it. In my head I was like BROOOO I was just about to say that. And the lesson went so well, but at the same time we both missed a very important question... (how can i be baptized, or around the lines of what can I do to become baptized) but we both thought he was asking like why do I need to be baptized. Later when I talked to her about what I experienced she said that the same thing happened to her when she wanted to say something, then I said it when she was thinking of how to say it. That was when I truly knew that we taught by the spirit. It was amazing. Some funny things and kinda scary at the same time is one time during gym, we were playing volleyball with the Elders and one of them kicked it and it almost took my head off. It was actually funny because everyone said that when I kinda ducked away from the ball I looked like I was in a movie and it happened so fast, but was kinda in slow motion. At the same time that was kinda nerve racking for me. lol. But one thing I want everyone to know is that I have not changed and I have tons of snacks that I have bought from the tienda (store) under my bed. Like where else am I going to put them. We also, yesterday, had an earthquake drill and it was very weird because I was like first off what is this drill (also when that alarm go´s off we have to go to these green safety circles in the middle of the streets) and so when I finally got to the circles I was informed that it was a PRACTICE earthquake drill. Did I mention that there was a thunderstorm at the same time... I was kinda thinking go big or go home, am I right? One other thing, is the CCM is very secluded from the outside city, so you kinda start to think you are in your own town and own little village. But once you go to bed you can hear that it's always a fiesta outside. If there is not a police car siren going on, you can hear all the music and people partying. Or sometimes you can even hear both.
So here in Mexico, they do a week of Easter and what they do is get people to play the parts of the important people in the story and then they practice and throughout the week they reenact what they did the whole week leading up to Jesus's death and His resurrection. Which I find so cool because they do everything and quote the scriptures. I really wish I was able to go and see it but one of our teachers is going to video some of it and show it to us. Also, in the spirit of Easter, just remember that Easter is not just about Jesus dying on the cross. It is also about how he bled and suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and how he rose from the dead and when he taught the people in the Americas about His existence. It is also a huge reminder of what he did for us to be able to return to our Heavenly Father again and how we are able to repent everyday for the things we did wrong. I for the first time, have actually thought about the TRUE meaning of Easter and what Easter actually means to me. For me this Easter, I am going to be thanking Jesus Christ for what he did for me and for the opportunity I have to work to be better every day.
I love all of you each day and please try to remember one of the best Holidays ever and the true meaning. But also have fun with all the chocolate, because that sounds so good right now..... and all the amazing food..... ( lo siento I am fasting so I am a little hungry. :) ) Peace from Mexico for I have about two in a half weeks left.
