First week/Second week
Hello friends and family!
So I finally have the chance to email and update you all. For those who don´t know, right now I am in Mexico City for six weeks for Missionary training. Let me start off by saying flying down there was a really fun long day. The Mexico MTC (called the CCM) is so beautiful and it is so warm!!! I love it, I think I already have a tan. My companion is Hermana Pemberton and we also room with two other Hermanas and their names are O´Brian and Van Hak Prestinary. They have been really helpful for me and keeping my spirits high. My branch is one of the few branches mixed with Latinos and Americans. So its pretty much Spanish Spanish Spanish all the time, which is good, but can be a little hard at times. Unlike the Provo MTC, the food here is AMAZING. I know that was like the number one question you were all thinking. Anyways, my first week was really hard, but on like my second day we were able to teach someone who was interested, and thank goodness we were able to do it in English. That was a really cool experience because it kinda showed me that I will be able to do this even though I have to learn a language first. One thing was that I could feel the spirit tell me that I needed to say something and usually I don´t say stuff because I´m scared to, but I said something and I felt so good after and the spirit was so strong. One funny thing was that one day during class, I was talking about where my brother is serving, they play movies on the buses that he travels on and I was talking to the class about that, but instead of saying hermano I said hombre which is man. So I literally said my man instead of saying my brother.... the whole class was looking at me like I needed some help. Besides that, one thing that I love here, is that Mexico City is so pretty. I love how the buildings are all different colors and it is just so pretty how you look at the hills full of houses and it is just full of different colors. The people here in Mexico City are like one of the best/scariest drivers EVER!!!! The traffic is so crazy and scary and people are selling things in the middle of the rode and I´m just surprised that nobody gets in an accident. I do have to say my first week was really hard because my companion is really good at Spanish and I am not, so at times I could feel like she is frustrated with me because it is taking me longer to get the hang of Spanish. I know I´m am just going to have to keep praying and putting all my faith in the Lord that I will get the language down because I can work as hard as I can. If I want to get the language down, not fully fluent, but down, then I am going to have to have faith that He will help me. It is weird to think that I am almost in my third week here and I feel like the first week was three weeks and this week was like three days. I had the opportunity to go to the temple today. They told us it was the biggest temple out side of the United States, and let me tell you, it really is because it has escalators in it!! Like three floors!! It is so pretty.
Love you all so much and hope that you have a wonderful and safe week.
